OF THE YEAR

TOURMALIN presents "The Wildlife Photographer of the Year Competition" - undoubtedly the largest and most prestigious wildlife photography competition in the world and an unforgettable experience to all participants and visitors. Annually organized and owned by the NATURAL HISTORY Museum /London and BBC Wildlife Magazine.

This Exhibition is the end result of the annual Wildlife Photographer of the Year Competition. The Competition encourages both amateur and professional photographers to record and document the beauty and wonder of the natural world.
How does it all happen? The lifecycle of the Competition starts in December with the selection of the judging panel. The panel itself reflects a number of key criteria: wildlife knowledge, aesthetic appreciation, photographic knowledge and skill. Last year the competition received nearly 16,900 images from photographers in over 57 different countries. The judging of the images goes through several stages and the winners are announced at a high profile awards ceremony at The Natural History Museum in London, usually in October. At this time the book, called PORTFOLIO is also launched that accompanies the Exhibition and is being published by BBC Books.
